This is my first car. I did not want a cheap beater but something I could rely on for years. I really like this car. I was never into owning a car, but this had changed my mind. It is reliable and fuel efficient, which were my two main selling points. It drives well. I live in area that gets a lot of ice, snow, and rain, and I feel comfortable driving my little car in it! It also looks pretty cute! Yeah, it's silly, but I'd give it a bonus for that!
Story
I was surprised to find my little car could fit an entire drum set on several different occasions!
Pros
I like the fuel mileage (it gets 35 mpg). I have had this car for several years now, and I have not had any problems beyond normal wear and tear. It is a hatchback, which I came to love when I moved out of state for school. You don't realize how much that extra space means until you suddenly have something big to haul!
Cons
My car was purchased used. I have found the heat and A/C to be weak and need an upgrade, but I'm not sure if that is the way it originally is or just wore down over time. The back seat area is cramped for those sitting in the rear. I personally like the small size, but I can understand wanting a larger car with more room. I have also noticed a "whining" noise at higher speeds.

2006 Chevrolet Aveo - Exceeds performance expectations, yet falls short of reliability.

The Chevy Aveo is a great small package, with conservatively small designs that encompass a larger hidden 'package' underneath the generic trim. This vehicle, especially if retrieved in the manual transmission, provides more than enough power behind the wheel to keep up with other 4 cylinder or V6 engines, however, falls short on reliability. Often as an owner, I found it troublesome the amount of repairs I came upon that I questioned when I would be able to finally enjoy the ride.
Story
This vehicle was supposed to be a beater, but turned into a daily driver after finding its performance factor. So many memories of running this car to the ground before realizing the potential it had.
Pros
The Chevy Aveo offers a substantial amount of torque at low ends and sustained acceleration through the mid range RPMs. The small size and weight offers an unmatched performance on snow and rain, and when combined with a set of snow tires, this car is undefeated in all terrain weather.
Cons
The Chevy Aveo, offers a disappointing rate of mechanical failure that leaves the owner questioning, 'When can I actually enjoy the ride?'. Routine adjusting of coolant and thermostat repairs can be costly over time, and the major repairs like power steering are unfortunately a reality.
