Buick Rainier Owner Ratings & Reviews

2005 Buick Rainier - Nice Family SUV
My Buick Rainier is a great vehicle. It has ample seating. The instrument panel is easy to read and provides all information a driver needs. The fact that I can put the back seats down allows me to transport larger items. The gas mileage is a little low at 14.9 miles per gallon, but I think it's better than some other vehicles of this type. The towing capability is enough for the class of vehicle, but it would be nice if it could tow more. It's easy to drive and rides more like a car than a truck. The back seats are roomy enough for my adult son and his wife, along with my grandson. The rear seat climate control panel is not what I had hoped it would be. I wish there was an option to not have carpet in the cargo area, as it has become a bit of a chore to keep my vehicle neat and clean ... (more)
Pros
I love my all wheel drive, my heated seats, and the sun roof. The factory stereo also has fantastic sound. Being able to load 6 compact discs and just drive to my own music makes for an enjoyable experience. With the large cargo area, I have been able to haul parts for my water well, fire wood, and groceries with ease. Although it is all wheel drive, it rides and drives like a regular sedan. It is easy to park just about anywhere. The electronic key fob makes it simple to load almost anything, including people. Unlike a regular car, the higher seating allows for better visibility especiall... (more)
Cons
The main problem with my Buick Rainier is gas mileage. At 14.9 Miles per gallon, a long trip can be expensive. I have tried to increase my gas mileage, but it seems to be fixed. Some of the controls are a little futuristic for my liking. It can feel like the deck of a star ship if you are not familiar with it. It took a little longer than usual for me to become comfortable driving and managing the climate control, windows, locks, and sound system. The sound system does not have an auxiliary input, so it can be difficult to use a satellite radio. My Rainier is equipped with OnStar, but I ha... (more)
2009 Buick Rainier - The Buick Rainier is a comfortable and practical vehicle.
We have enjoyed owning, driving, and riding in the Buick Rainier. It handles well, rides smoothly, does not look like every other car in the parking lot, and five people can ride comfortably in it. Not only is it a comfortable vehicle, but we have folded down the rear seats and hauled quite a few large heavy appliances in it, without any trouble, as well as more than a few pieces of lumber.
Story
We were re-doing the bathroom and went to pick up some things at Ikea. As we stood in the checkout line, with a sink, faucet, cabinet, towels, rug, and a few other items. we worried whether there would be room for us after we loaded everything in. It was a bit like working a jigsaw puzzle, but we got it all in, with room to spare!
Pros
There are heated, reclining, leather upholstered seats. There is plenty of leg room, also. The Rainier has a built in DVD player to keep children occupied on long journeys, and when there are no children in the vehicle, the back seats easily fold down to hold more cargo. The handling is very smooth and responsive. The sunroof is very nice on a beautiful day, and does not leak in the rain.
Cons
The worst thing about the Rainier is that Buick no longer makes them, so we will not be able to replace this vehicle with a newer Rainier. We've had more than a few problems with the sensors, and they are not something we are able to repair or replace ourselves. The seat belt on the front passenger side is at an awkward angle, and cannot be adjusted. It tends to rub across my throat.
2012 Buick Rainier - Great truck, feels powerful
The Ford F150 has a very high hauling capacity. I've hauled loads that my previous trucks couldn't handle, and this handled them with ease. I never had any concerns going up hills or coming down hills that I would lose control of my vehicle. I could use it for minor road trips without breaking the bank, and bring my family too! Overall a great truck. Good for a variety of tasks, and its hard to go wrong.
Story
There was a time when I was hauling some half ton sand bags around my construction site, and we wanted to test the bed of the F150. We had the bags raised via crane around 1.5 feet above the bed and suddenly the cable snapped, sending it flying, nearly hitting my buddy jed, however, all was well, and the ford help up perfectly!
Pros
The cabin was very spacious up front, with accommodations for several people, all fitting comfortably. Another thing to mention is the gas mileage. While gas mileage for trucks is usually pretty comparatively poor, I can say that I was quite pleased with the efficiency of this truck.
