I purchased my Buick from my grandparents-in-laws' estate and it was only at 98,000 miles when we purchased it because my parents-in-law used it so much while they were taking care of them. The car was well taken care of before I bought it except when my brother-in-law borrowed it and side-swiped it on dividers on the freeway. Despite this collision, the car was fixed up very nicely, and we've never had a problem related to that collision. A month after we purchased it, the engine was still clear of major problems except for an issue with the spark plugs (I don't recall the specific issue as that was some time ago). What I like the most about this car is how quiet it is, especially when compared to my previous vehicle. Since purchasing the car, I've added another 2,000 miles to it. The... (more)
Story
We took our son to Disneyland for the first time (a full-day drive to get there) and we went in this car. This trip took place before my grandparents-in-law passed away and so looking back, we not only associate that trip with excellent, fun times going to Disneyland and Las Vegas but also with them. This had been their car for many years when they bought it brand new in 2004. To us, this was ... (more)
Pros
My favorite features would be the space and the quiet engine. Whenever I turn it on, I have to listen very carefully because turning the engine is also quiet. When my husband works nights and comes home in the morning, I don't hear him drive in where our previous vehicle was so loud, I'm surprised it didn't wake up the entire neighborhood. Because we travel so much, being able to talk to each other is a lot easier when we don't have to shout over a loud engine! The car is also very comfortable. I don't have any issues with the seats and the floor wells are very spacious.
Cons
We've noticed that the odometer measures our speed slightly faster than what we're actually going. It's only about one mph off or so and we keep an eye on it. It's better that it tells us that we're going faster than what we're really going at least. The Buick we have doesn't have a CD player. It has a tape deck that's installed in such a way that we'd have to take most of the dashboard apart to replace it. The keys do not open the car doors or trunk. You have to have the key fob. And the only way to open the trunk is by pressing a button in the glove box. Don't lock the car if you don't... (more)

The Buick Century is one of the classic vehicles that can span generations in terms of its applicability. I am a 25-year-old male who purchased a 2002 maroon Buick Century from an elderly person living in a retirement community who was no longer able to drive. I feel that this illustrates the type of appeal that the vehicle can have across a bevy of age groups. The interior of the car was standard cloth and was in excellent condition with minimal wear and/or stains. There was a little over 50,000 miles on the vehicle, and it had no issues of any sort. The air conditioning was in very good shape, and the car also was very smooth on the road at all kinds of speeds. It never seemed to indicate strain while adjusting to different speeds, and the wheel was also very reactive which is what I... (more)
Story
I have a fond memory of purchasing the vehicle from a very elderly woman who had simply stored the vehicle for the better part of four years without using it. It was a funny and mutually beneficial experience for the both of us, as she received a large envelop full of cash, and I was now in possession of a gently used car that met all my needs.
Pros
The pros about the Century is that is has a considerable amount of room for transporting both people and material items. It also is a very smooth and reliable car that is a pleasure to drive. It also has a kind of timeless look to it without making too much of statement. It blends in very well.
Cons
The two biggest complaints that I have about the Century is that it did not come with a CD player or an auxiliary cord, and also the gas tank could be a little bit larger than the 14-gallon one that came with mine.
