BMW was famed for saying that there would never be an "M" series X5 because, "M" series cars always had manual transmissions. So, they created the X5 4.6is. Everything an "M" series car should have, without the manual box.
Story
Some have sneered at the "Sport Activity Vehicle" moniker, and I promise, you do not want to take this beast off-roading. However, I have pulled several other SUVs out of ditches or snow in terrible weather.
Pros
The car is amazing, well built, and fast. Monster 20" tires in the rear grip the road and make it fast off the line. The car, despite being nearly 13 years old, is tight, and has needed little major maintenance, the result of a quality build and being taken care of.
Cons
Negatively, the car does suffer from few generic BMW defects. You can count on the door lock mechanisms getting sticky and not unlocking. You can count on the window lifting mechanisms failing in the down position. And the headlight glass seems to yellow faster than comparable cars its age.
