1994 BMW 5 Series - Classy old Bimmer
It is all in all a pretty classy looking car. It happens to be one of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven. Since I purchased it totaled and repaired it myself, it was definitely worth the cost. I'm not sure If I'd go out and buy a new BMW though. The car has been pretty reliable overall with very few issues at 140k miles. The only big maintenance issue I've had was with an aftermarket radiator, so I can't really blame BMW for that!
Story
I drove it down to Wilipa Bay last year to go fishing during the salmon derby. I didn't feel like renting a hotel, or sleeping cramped up with my fishing buddy on the boat, so I learned that this car was really comfortable sleeping in. The passenger seat goes back almost all of the way so you can lay pretty much horizontally and stretch you legs all the way out if you aren't too tall.
Pros
It looks pretty classy and old school. I love the orange lighting on the dash display, and it rides really comfortably. It has all real leather seats, which can't be beat in my opinion. Even though it's an older car, it has a nice upgraded stereo with an aux cable input and a USB port. While it may not be the most reliable car for a road trip, I don't mind just cruising down the street with a little bit of style.
Cons
They are kind of a pain to work on. Almost everything under the hood is held together with little plastic pieces that are easy to break when taking them out. Either that or lose them because sometimes you'll pop a little piece out and it flies off. I still haven't figured out why it idles roughly either. Since it is older, it can be hard to find parts for it in the junkyards around here. Some things you need to order either aftermarket, or pay way too much money on genuine BMW parts.
