2007 BMW 5 Series - Excellent Vehicle for Car Enthusiasts
This is one of the best cars I have ever owned. The V-10 knows how to scream. In my opinion, the M5 is the perfect combination between performance and luxury. It gives you the best of both worlds, with unbeatable performance, as you sit in an amazingly comfortable and quiet interior.
Story
I will never forget the test drive. I drove the car almost 5 miles and I knew I had to have it. I drove on the interstate, and then on some windy country roads. That was one of the most fun drives I have ever been on.
Pros
The best part of the car is the fact that it appears to be an average BMW sedan to the average person, when in reality, the M5 is truly a sports car waiting to be unleashed. The car pulls hard through each gear, accelerating harder and harder. The massive disc brakes will stop you on a dime, and the tight suspension handles corners with ease. The performance is by far the best part about the car.
Cons
As with any BMW, the maintenance can get a little pricey. To ensure the car stays in great shape, there is quite a bit of preventative maintenance that is necessary. Throw in a couple surprises that require replacement parts, and your bill adds up quick. Another con is the gas mileage. To drive the car how it was designed to drive would give you about 7 mpg on a good day. At best, you can expect about 17 mpg on the highway, driving very conservatively.
2000 BMW 5 Series - Great performer yet a headache.
Performance is outstanding. Handling and comfort of ride are outstanding. For what ever reason, this foreign car make chose to downgrade the rubber and plastic on the car. Although we are talking about a car that is 17 years old, I am comparing my experience to three 3-series cars that I have had in the past from the same manufacturer.
Story
The fun part is driving in luxury and getting 38 mpg on the highway. Car weighs 3,850 pounds.
Pros
Great performer. Good gas mileage. Lots of extras. Very nice styling and color coordination.
Cons
Electric window regulators are made of poor-quality parts and must be replaced once a year. Plastic vacuum lines that should be rubber hoses. Downgraded rubber all throughout the vehicle.
