I purchased a used 2008 BMW 328xi a few years ago and am thoroughly enjoying driving it on a daily basis. The model was recommended by a friend as I was bored with my Nissan sedan. I enjoy driving, and chose a manual transmission to really get the feel of the car. The car surprised me with its quickness and pep - I heard all about that, but didn't understand it till I drove it. As a used car, there were some nicks and necks that weren't in perfect condition, but overall I very much enjoy driving the car.
Story
One memory I have is that less than one month after ownership, I had to have the windshield washer pump replaced, my heater died, and a bearing in the transfer case blew.
Pros
The get up and go is great. I love the styling and good solid thunk you get when the doors close. The interior is very clean, and with proper maintenance these cars can last you a very long time.
Cons
One of the big cons with owning a car like this is the maintenance and costs of repairs. I enjoy working on cars, so I try to do as much as I can - but even the littlest thing in these cars sometimes can be quite costly or its a part that is buried under a lot of other parts and the labor to have it fixed quickly climbs. Another consideration is that some basic additions to cars these days (Bluetooth, satellite radio) are expensive add-ons.

I've driven a large number of cars in my time but my BMW 328xi has been the absolute best. It's just such a fun car to drive - great handling, hugs the road and corners like a dream, even in the worst weather. It has a lot of power and accelerates very well, great for getting onto the highway! The interior is sumptuous and extremely comfortable. I've had no problems with the mechanics or general running of the car; it's been incredibly reliable. It's very stylish and I'm always getting compliments on it. It's not the most practical car if you have a family, but the trunk is surprisingly roomy. The back seat is a bit cramped, especially for leg room. My biggest complaint is about the run-flat tires. On ramps on the freeways - the handling is so smooth that these are so much fun to take!
Pros
Great handling, very stylish, lots of power.
Cons
Run-flat tire cost and durability, small back seat.
