There is not much that I can say about the car that is bad. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and for my first 'grown-up' car, I definitely don't regret anything about the purchase.
Story
My brother bought a 328i and we often have competitions on who's car is superior. It isn't a specific memory but it is a running memory.
Pros
The car is smooth as can be. After growing up with hand-me-down cars, going to this car with great handle and good kick, it was a dream to drive. The seats are comfortable and it feels like 'home' when I drive it. The heated seats are always a bonus as is the plus sound system. I have taken the car on many long drives across the country over the last 4 years and I have not had any major issues with the car. The only problem I have had in 4 years of ownership was a minor spark plug issue which was a cheap fix.
Cons
The number one negative is something that I haven't had to deal with yet and that is going to be cost of repair. Being a foreign car, parts aren't cheap and not many people in my city can work on BMWs. Another negative is the cost of oil changes. The car takes synthetic oil and that causes expensive changes. One problem is due to how the car is configured, over time, the inside edges of my tires get worn down due to rubbing against the car.

My BMW 330xi is, to say the least, a fantastic car. Because it has the largest engine available in 2006 (3.0L straight-6), it sounds great and goes like hell. I've put 90,000 miles on it on all different kinds of roads and it runs like day 1. The sound system is the upgraded version that BMW offers and sounds great, even 10 years later. The transmission is /pretty/ good, I'm a manual transmission kind of guy so the automatic isn't my ideal transmission but it has sport and semi-automatic modes which is nice when getting onto a highway because in second/third/fourth gear this car flies.
Story
No question, driving my car through Yosemite has to be the best memory. The windy roads and mountain passes are what the car is made for. I had the pleasure of going to Yosemite twice in my car and it was fantastic.
Pros
Honestly, the all wheel drive on my car is exceptional. I've driven in every kind of weather – blizzard, ice, snow, thunderstorms, light rain, freezing rain, flooding, wind, dust, etc. – And I don't even notice that there's any kind of weather outside. On top of that, the all wheel drive makes the handling on this car that much better. I've taken her on mountain roads and the car just grips the road like few other cars can. Second, the car is simply beautiful. From the lines to the face, I still find myself staring at my car sitting in the driveway or looking back at her after parking. I a... (more)
Cons
The automatic transmission. Not that it isn't good for an automatic, I'm just a manual person, like I said above. The transmission doesn't /quite/ know what I want to do sometimes. I'll put my foot down and it'll shift up which is annoying because I want it to do the opposite. The semi-automatic and sport modes help this but the car uses a lot of gas when I'm in either of those modes. Also, the gas mileage isn't great. The all wheel drive and big engine are poor on mileage. Finally, the sheer cost to maintain my car – especially after 70,000 miles – is becoming exorbitant.
