2004 BMW 3 Series Owner Ratings & Reviews
Write a Review
2004 BMW 3 Series - I'm happy with the experience given by this car, but underwhelmed by the performance and disheartened by the upkeep.
The best thing about the 330Ci is the driving experience. The seats are very comfortable, the Harman Kardon stereo is phenomenal, and both the steeling wheel and 6-speed shifter--while each a bit heavy--have a great feel and provide good feedback. The straight-six engine sounds great and has ample performance, however you have to move up to the M3 in order to experience the upper performance limit BMW has designed for this chassis. On the topic of the chassis, the car handles wonderfully. It's super agile, especially considering the all aluminum block engine up front, and it's always a blast to throw it into corners. The car is generally easy to work on, for anyone looking to save a bit of money by taking on repairs themselves. Keep in mind that it requires several BMW-specific adapter... (more)
Story
I've found some twisty roads in my area, and I'll take the car down these roads usually once or twice a week. I feel that is where the car shines, when it can show how agile it is. It handles all the curves very deftly, and powers out of each turn with gusto. The speed is available, but the sharp handling is what has really been enjoyable. I know these roads well now, but the first few times w... (more)
Pros
The styling is dynamic and classic. I love the feel of the shifter and the steering wheel. The clutch pedal is responsive and crisp. The sound of the inline-six engine is deep and satisfying--not necessarily loud, but it sounds like a performance car. The seats are very comfortable. I love the simple layout of the dash and instrument cluster. I can focus on driving in this car, with every knob and switch being easily within reach. If I have the motivation, I can work on this car myself, but still would require the BMW-specific adapters for my tools. The trunk is good sized, and the A/C sys... (more)
Cons
The interior trim sagging, due to either poor adhesive or unforeseen environmental causes. The exterior side skirts and front bumper sagging, due to broken or failing plastic clip connectors. The floor mats showed wear after a time. The second row seating is cramped. Having to use premium gas does add up, in terms of expenses.
2004 BMW 3 Series - Drives like a dream.
When I bought this car, I had never owned a car brand on the level of a BMW. The brand to me signifies luxury, and also great quality. Prior to purchasing the car, I only imagined these things, so when I decided to take a leap and buy it, I was more than excited when the actual vehicle topped all my prior expectations. The car itself was a 2 door coupe, with a sporty look. The interior leather seats gave it a feeling of luxury and class. When I began to drive the car around, one of the first things I noticed was how easily it responded to every element of control, from the steering to the acceleration, to all the actual electronics such as power windows and stereo system, etc. One thing I didn't know about, but was very fond of, was the emergency button inside the car, where I could pr... Story
I drove this car all around the Orange County and Los Angeles area during the summer when I first purchased it. The car made me feel like I was in a Hollywood film.
Pros
It's a car full of class. When you are driving this car, definitely expect people to turn their heads to "check it out". The car itself drives excellently, responding perfectly to every direction of control you give it. It's like a perfectly oiled machine. The BMW Roadside Assistance button inside the car is phenomenal for when you might end up in a jam such as some kind of accident or even running out of gas or needing directions.
Cons
The car isn't cheap, so I would have to say that is the only con that comes to the top of my head. With this particular model, because it is two door, don't expect to drive a lot of people in it. Even though multiple people will fit, the two door design isn't meant for many passengers.
