The Audi A3 convertible (cabriolet) and luxury sedan are gaining lots of popularity thanks to the blending of an established luxury brand and entry-level price. Despite the relatively low price, the new A3 doesn't feel compromised. It has an opulent interior; it is fun to drive and comes with a potent engine lineup. It brings the same solid qualities delivered by its bigger siblings, a quiet interior with nimble handling. The 2016 Audi A3 is available as a Cabriolet (convertible) that can seat four or a sedan seating 5. An automated manual transmission and front-wheel drive come standard, although the all-wheel drive is also available. The Audi A3 got a complete redesign for its 2015 model and had seen minor changes for this year.

The turbocharged engine supplies a solid low-end power that gives you confidence when driving on the freeway or around town.
Cons
The interior design and electronics need updating, particularly the dashboard placement of gadgets. It should not be assumed that the Audi badge itself will be sufficient to sell the model. The competition out there, including from the lineup of Audi itself, is perhaps more compelling.

It may be compact, but the engine packs a punch. Seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Front-wheel drive. 184 horsepower.

Taking road trips with the kids.
Pros
Great ride, handling. Fun to drive. Get a quattro and you have AWD. This is great if you like to go to the mountains in the winter and don't want to install chains. Probably the nicest looking non-SUV that meets this criteria. Not an SUV. General sleek look, nice option packages. Sporty, upscale feel. Roomy trunk for size of car. Service at most dealerships is excellent.
Cons
Cramped back seat (especially if you have kids in car seats like I do). Electronics in dash peter out quickly. Plastic finishes on front components tend to chip after 6-7 years. So-so gas mileage. Expensive to maintain (especially if your clutch goes), not many qualified mechanics outside of dealerships. Doesn't age that well. Tend to break down more after ~9 years of age or >125K miles (although I drive a 2001 and it's still going strong, but I've put quite a bit into it).
