The Acura TL is a midsize luxury car that was manufactured by Acura. It was introduced in 1995 to replace the Acura Vigor and was badged for the Japanese-market from 1996 to 2000 as the Honda Inspire and from 1996 to 2004 as the Honda Saber. The TL was Acura's best-selling model until it was outsold by the MDX in 2007. While it once ranked as the second best-selling luxury sedan in the United States behind the BMW 3 Series, sales have decreased by over 50% since then. TL sales have been negatively affected by both the recession as well as negative publicity due to styling issues in the last generation. Four generations of the Acura TL were produced, with the final fourth generation TL premiering in 2008 as a 2009 model and ending production in 2014, when it was replaced together with t... (more)
Story
Driving through a scenery routes in Austin and Hill Country in Texas. Also, on the way to New Orleans from hometown Houston. Best car to drive on Interstate highways. It is a fun car too. I take the car to the beach at Galveston. Watching the stars with sun roof opened. I was also ticketed three times with this car, two were speeding and one was for an expired state inspection sticker. Cruisin... (more)
Pros
Acura TL offers bracing, sport performance. Cornering is crisp and precise. The electric power steering helps keep the lane even on curves. A six-speed automatic offers paddle shifters to give drivers extra control. The AWD model comes with the option of AcuraÕs advanced manual transmission. Adding to the handling, the TL body structure is deliberately rigid. Acura uses high-strength steel to give the structure its strength while reserving aluminum and other lightweight materials for suspension features. The underside is nearly flat, reducing drag and helping drivers enjoy greater performance.
Cons
Like most luxury cars, the Acura TL doesnÕt earn very good gas mileage. The FWD V6 gets 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The SH-AWD models gets 18 city/26 highway. This is a midsized sedan with a small sedanÕs trunk. It only offers 13.1 cubic feet of space. Some users find the many knobs difficult. Interface could definitely be simpler.

2010 Acura TL - Acura lives up to its reputation.

I purchased an Acura TL in 2014 from the father of my best friend, Andy. Andy's dad showed me a complete record of oil changes and other maintenance he performed himself. Knowing Andy's dad, Steve, as I have since I was 7 years old, I had no trouble believing he took excellent care of the Acura, and it showed. The car may have been four years old, but the engine purred like new. The interior was in like-new condition, and the car didn't have high miles. This model of Acura was exceptionally well built, with a comfortable quiet interior. My 71 year-old mother loves the smooth ride. I love the sleek lines of the car, with its silver exterior and black interior. The stereo rocks, and I've had no issues with it or the navigation system. The trunk is large enough to accommodate a full bag ... (more)
Story
Had a great week's vacation with a golf buddy a few months ago. Drove to Canada to see our first Formula 1 race, but stopped to play great golf courses in upstate New York and Vermont on the way up and back. The Acura was roomy enough to accommodate two guys' golf bags and luggage, and the car performed beautifully on both highways and Vermont's back roads.
Pros
Reliability, performance, smooth, comfortable ride, trunk space, sleek lines.
Cons
The only con is paying more for premium gas.
