2004 Acura TL - Luxury, and Japanese reliability.
The Acura TL is an excellent car for someone who is looking for a powerful, relatively fuel efficient alternative to the BMW. Honda engineering in a premium car, it does not get much better than the Acura TL.
Story
I drove it to Portland, Oregon to visit some family members. I got to see much of the western side of the USA, it was beautiful.
Pros
The Acura TL has a powerful, but relatively fuel efficient engine which handles and performs like a dream. The ride is very smooth. It has a roomy and beautiful interior without being over the top. It is more reliable and has higher resell value than an equivalent BMW. So if you plan on selling your car in the future, it is something to keep into account. The Sunroof is a beautiful addition, and I prefer sunroofs over convertible vehicles. Besides a few problems, the car has been extremely reliable.
Cons
Those its more reliable than a BMW, the Acura is known to have issues with its transmission. This affected my Acura and would of costs thousands to fix, if it was not for my work covering repair costs. Also, it had a few issues with the ignition. It’s a bit large, so if you prefer a more nimble car, perhaps the Acura is not for you.
2004 Acura TL - Comfortable, luxurious, reliable sporty sedan
It's an older car, but I've put almost 200k miles on it and it's still going strong. I have taken care of the car, oil/transmission changes when I'm supposed to, however, I have also abused it... cross country trips and it has held up. With its age the only issue I have had is that it's gotten a little noisier and the navigational buttons have become more finicky. That being said, I would still buy this same exact car again with less mileage.
Story
A trip cross country, and the car handled well on all terrains even thought it's only a front wheel drive vehicle.
Pros
Super comfortable, memory seats and mirrors (a must for cars with more than one driver). Reliable, I've taken this car on a virtually nonstop (except for food and gas) 24+hr trip and it had no issues, even though it was a summer trip with A/C on full blast to keep the sun at bay.
Cons
Rotors have rust on them, even though I don't live near water. In normal weather, I'm just not sure how the levels of rust accumulated. With age, some of the power has gone even though I have changed the accelerator sensor and the spark plugs.
